Armadillo Audio Notes App Reviews

18 Customer Reviews:

This is a good app but short a few features included in other audio note apps. You can create links in the text to a particular point in time in the audio but playing the audio back will not highlight the text associated with it. It cant import audio files that have been recorded outside the app.

This App does a good job all around but is far from perfect. For example, its impossible to decide where to save your files, and impossible to know how much space your notes are taking on your harddrive (SSD users, be warned). Also, using tables with this App is a total mess. It seems to leverage technology from TextEdit but also seems to have big problems: for example, selecting the right cells and changing font in table cells sometimes just doesnt work at all. By the time youll have figured how to bypass the problem, youll have missed 10 minutes of class lecture, which is not nice at all. Now on the good side, the App is well presented and pretty easy to use but need some other features to make it worthwhile, like being able to add or freely draw figures. If you compare this to One Note on Windows or even Words Notebook feature on Mac, its lacking many useful features. Hopefully, it will only get better with time.

I purchased this program to import a pdf to then be able to record a lecture and write notes on the different pages in the pdf during a university lecture. The import feature did not allow me to select a pdf at all. When I dragged and dropped the pdf into the program it embedded the pdf but only as small window where you could scroll through the pdf to view it but not type on it. If you can fix this issue, this program will be awesome. If not, I just paid good money for a program I cannot use.

It looks good but it’s not as versatile as i thought it’d be. I like my notes looking nice, but I want it to look nice in my own way. Armadillo does not allow me to change the default settings to change the font and paragraph style (like line spacing). Also, it doens’t synchronize the words you type with the audio that’s being recorded at that point in time. I’ve used another application before (AudioNote) that would synchronize every single letter, and I found that to be really helpful so I didn’t have to listen to a whole big portion and try to fastforward and rewind here and there just to get to one point that i want to replay. I would return it if I could, and return to the application I used before—AudioNote—even if it doesn’t look as good. At least it’s more practical for college students like me who want to take lecture notes and club meeting minutes.

I have been looking for an app that would record my professors lecture yet organize it so I could find the right section of it and easily play it! This is it!! Just hit record and start taking your notes! Simple as that! Whenever you make a new section in your notes, the app will pair up the audio with your note! When you are reviewing your notes, you can easily select the right section of your note, and it will play that section of the lecture of your professor speaking! It could not be simpler! Armadillo comes with easy to follow guidelines and directions too. I love how you can put photos, web URLs, and time stamps in it! Thanks for making it easy to have the notes be turned into a PDF! Great for when studying for the Exams. Get this app!! It will be so useful for school!

So I like the program for the most part, however a lot of times you can hear the typing, which is really annoying, but im not sure if thats just a construct of where the microphone is on the computer Also, there arent really great ways to resize/format immages in the program. if there was a way built in to supress erronious noise in the recording and if the program was a little mroe freindly to images it would be 5* easy

This program is a good piece of work but it needs some additions like- i really wish to have an option to export my audio notes to other devices and not to restrict myself to soft. i hope i can export the text into pdf or other formats so that it can be used widely. i really wish to have some sync services like iCloud/dropbox etc added into this.

Its Good, But Needs Better Word Processing Features

The app is Good… but missing some critical word processing elemnts that make taking notes a pain at points.

I have been using audio note for awhile with great succes, but became frustrated with the apps lack of text formatting. So after searching for a new app that would let me sync an audio recording of the lecture with my professors pdf of lecture slides/notes AND let me change font sizes/styles etc. I found Armadillo and (sadly) threw away $10 on an app I will never use. The key missing feature: you cannot import a pdf file as the background as you can with audio note. So while you can embed images/pdfs etc., it only adds them into your note with their own separate scroll bars. So you cant follow along with pdf/ppt slides and add notes to the individual parts of the pdf. Also there is a menu item for "preferences" that never allows you to open it or change any preferences, which is silly. There is also no way to export audio, so youre stuck in this app with no way to get what you recorded to another app or another person. Audio note allows you to export the audio to a WAV file, which is incredibly useful, and I can get my recorded lectures to classmates who missed that day. This app is definitely not for following along with a pdf file full of powerpoint slides, such as most students do in class these days. So I really have no idea what this app is even for. If adobe acrobat pro had an option to record/sync audio…then I would never need another crappy app like this or audio note ever again. Sigh.

I NEVER use this app. I thought it would a useful tool to accompony be to classes, but its worthless because the interface is not easy enough to quickly edit during a fast-paced lecture and its just really not practical on a laptop where you cant draw and write as commentary. Also, why in the world can I not easily delete a note that Ive made? This makes absolutely no sense to me.

Its hard to keep up with taking notes during lectures, when began using this app. my whole education changed. Now i can just note a couple notes and pay attention to the entire lecture through this software and later if I need to review for exams I just go back and listen to the parts i need to focus on. I recommend it.

I love this app. I am a journalist and use it all the time when interviewing clients. It allows me to take notes AND record the conversation at the same time. Even better, I can quickly highlight a section of text and link it to the exact spot on the recording so that I dont have to search through the audio to find it later. This is a huge timesaver and my favorite part of the app. I highly recommend it. I dont understand the above note that says you cant delete a note. You certainly can. Simply right click on the name of the note in the note and notebook listing on the left side, and a deletion option appears.

Its a great app, for the most part. There are, however, several bugs which could use addressing. Other reviewers have mentioned them, but the text formatting could use improvement (and the weird alignment of tiered bullets), also the program could filter out tying noise, but I realize that might be a pretty tough feat.

love being able to record my professors while taking notes so that if i miss something, i can go back and listen/review. hearing yourself type is kind of annoying though but overral it’s a great app

This app is pretty great. It does exactly what it says it does, is easy to use & is handsome to boot. My only complaint is that you cannot format the document as you want or change the default format settings. The developers explain on their website this feature would be distracting. To which I would like to say “That’s why I am recording my lecture, dork. I know I have the attention span of a gnat.” In order to get around this I end up copying & pasting all lectures into a Pages document in order to format & print. If you aren’t a formatting nerd like me, or if it doesn’t bother you that the programmers are trying to restrict your inherent formatting freedom, I would say this would be a very good app for you. However, if you enjoy color-coding your notes or believe man should be free to choose his own default settings as god intended, keep looking.

The app works, but it could use some additions The text formatting isn’t great, but it is nice to have anchors to audio recordings in your notes. What would make this app much better would be keyboard shortcuts for creating new notes and turning recording on/off.
